Disco 3 just died

Stuck on the side of the road. Driving along engine light then alt light comes on then everyting dead. Hazzards not working no power at all.

jump started, ran for a few mins then dies?

Battery and or alt?

I'd go with battery & alternator.

Could be internal short on battery. If the alternator dies i would expect the charge light to come on but you should get home on the battery.

Not necessarily as when the alternator goes on those, they often just short out the battery!!!

K, I lost a good company car once that way. While waiting for the RAC to turn up so I could get a new one a truck clipped it and shoved it into a wall. Still alls well, I got a replacement one step up the ladder car from a regional manager who had just left and kept it hidden for a year

Thanks for the hints. It was the alt, sparkey mentioned he's not seen a bettery so dead before.
