Looking at changing the cam, followers, timing belt, rockers etc but it seems that OEM cams for the 4.2 engine are NLA.
So anyone have any suggestions as I want comparable quality. Piper have been mentioned but for everyone who likes them there seem to be another two who don't.

Real steel.they do everything RV8. I know John Eales used them when he built my 4.6.

A good option is the Kent cams H180 - gives about 20 bhp and 25lbs of torque over standard on any 3.5/3.9/4.2 and uses standard lifters and requires no machining.

Comes with a pack of shims for the rocker arm mounts so you get the right amount of lift on the valves - dead easy to install - rotate the cam and look carefully for overlap and add shims accordingly until there is none.

Put loads of cam lube everywhere you can around the cam/lifters.

A very light skim for the heads is also a goos idea.

Just make sure you replace the timing chain as well - nothing fancy - just a new one.

Use composite gaskets - they are slightly more expensive but ten times better.

Also make sure you clean all the oil pathways in the heads with a thin wire brush to get all the crudd out - especially the tiny round ones - this is often overlooked and leads to oil starvation which puts you back where you were with worn cam lobes.

Take the sump off and clean it out properly make sure the pickup is clean and put a small magnet in the bottom.

Change oil (use 15/40 mineral) and filter and add Zinc additive.

Assuming you have done all of this - fire the engine up and rev it at 2000 rpm for 15-20 minutes to bed the cam in properly.

After 500 miles change the oil(use 10/40 semi synthetic) and filter again.

Give it the beans

I have used this method a few times on various vehicles and found it works

Good luck
