Realisting MPG out of LPG or Diesel Range Rover/ Sport
Discussion
Had my 2012 RRS SDV6 HSE a few months now. I get around 27/28 generally taking a full tank/week of various traffic scenarios. A few weeks after I first had it, I think I was trying to justify the purchase & drove to work around 15 miles away & got an amazing 37.1 MPG! I have to say that I was bored stiff with some of the speeds that I drove at & also anticipated lift-off from the accelerator prior to roundabouts & red lights etc. Probably drove everyone else crazy who were behind me that morning!! Hope that helps.
Thanks very much for the replies.
Not too bad then all in all. I'm getting average 42mpg out of my BMW 320d Touring - country lanes, pennines, motorway to work.
Has anyone experience of LPG'ing a petrol Sport - thinking that maybe a better option. Current commute is 75 miles round trip.

Are these actual figures you guys are quoting or what the onboard computer is telling you?
I did a test over a long distance when towing on the motorway - computer told me I was averaging 18-19mpg but actual was closer to 14mpg which is +/-25% difference.
The onboard computer average reading for my RRS 3.0TD V6 is anywhere from 26-28mpg for normal running around - mixture of town and A-road driving, to 30-32mpg on motorways at a cruise. As a comparison, I've owned a 3.0TD V6 Q7 and X5 previously and all were roughly the same in my experience.

Yup, agree with this, the OBC on my 2012 Westminster is a good bit more that 10% out on the average mpg, indeed closer to 15%.
Take the last tankful, 395 miles on 79 litres gives 22.7 mpg, OBC said 26.3.
So, sadly, I take the average mileage with a pinch of salt. On the other hand, the 'range to empty' is more accurate, on filling up, my range showed as 512 miles, so for a 97 litre tank or 24.5 mpg - much more like it!
Perhaps a case of 'enhancing' the apparent mpg by some 'modified' OBC calcs?
