Cheap disco needed!

Evening all,
A mate of mine needs a Disco to replace one the got written off. Prefer an oil burner and with the jump seat things in the back. Pretty much her only real need is to pick one up that wont be a money pit for as close to 1K as she can get. It will spend most of its life moving her dogs about so spec really not a huge issue and a few scrapes are fine. She just wants something reliable. Has to be a Disco as she had an accident in her old one and it protected her and her kids well so she wont even consider anything else.
I know that is pretty cheap so the goal is as close to 1K, but probably up to 1.5. Anyone know of one or looking to sell?

There's a chap in the Manchester area selling one (an Auto I think, 300 tdi model) for around £1,500, possibly a bit less. It's on the LRO forum 'over £1,000' section. I was interested, but since my car's engine kind of went pop, I've got to break it and sell the bits before I can justify having another car on the drive.
There are a number of cheap Discos on that forum, obviously I can't vouch for if any of them are any good, but it might be a good place to start.

Cross flow, I know mate! I'm just trying to help out a mate get the best she can find and I know very little about the Disco as I am not into 4x4s really. The most challenging off roading ability I need is the occasional pot hole or grass car park!

Quick update - I have been in contact with Paul (Paul, I'll email you tonight but they may come and see your car!)
Although I have not seen the car, Paul has been in touch and I am pretty confident it is a very nice car based on my contact with Paul.

Its always trickier buying at this time of year, the onset of another "Ice Age" (2 days of frost to most of us!) means there are more people looking and at the same time a premium is sometimes applied by vendors..can still buy well but you need to be quick and know what you are looking for/at.
Check under the boot floor and under the car generally for rust!
