I knew they were getting rare but £415.
About 5 or 6 years ago I paid £80 for a set of 5 of these wheels with usable tyres, wont be long until they are worth more than the vehicle they're on.

I've never owned a forward control but I own a series 2 & a stage 1. I have a set of forward control wheels on the series 2 because in my opinion they look better & I've been keeping an eye open for another set for the stage 1. I don't think they look 415 quid better though & will probably go with a set of normal 109 wheels if I don't get lucky in the next couple of months.

Another former 101 owner here. I have had for of all variants over the years. Last one I sold had a complete and working nokken winch. I was offered £1800 for that alone.
You've actually got me thinking it might be an idea to buy some stuff like 109 wheels & fairy overdrive units if they come along at the right price just to keep a few years. Series stuff has been on the increase as well & I suppose it will only be a matter of time until it starts increasing more as series vehicles become more scarce. That's why I bought a very tidy Lightweight after the 101. At the moment prices are pretty reasonable for spares. But the prices of the vehicles themselves are starting to rise. When I was looking for mine people were asking silly money for basket jobs. Fortunately mine came with an O/D which makes a considerable difference.
We are talking about proper Forward Controls here, not of these 101 young upstarts!

Wife called this the chip van, last owner drove it back from S.A. then left it in his front garden for 20 years! came with loads of spares,ENV diffs and front and rear half shafts etc!

2nd 2B ever made too far gone to save the chassis

People must be prize nobs paying money like that for old crap steel wheels.
Do people not realise that any old landrover wheel can be made wider for half that price???.
There must be one born every minute

Sounds interesting, is it banding? Seriously considering getting my Defender 5.5x16 tubeless wheels widened to 7" Do you have any experience on this?
Thanks,
