Defender X-Tech Special Edition - worth the extra cash?

Not sure why, but I am really hankering after a Defender and love the look of the Nara Bronze X-Tech Special Edition
I know that there was some debate on here a while ago about the LR special editions being a rip off, but I would see this as a keeper (still need to persuade the wife first).
What do the educated LR folk of PH think?

Or just get a standard 110?

k all about Defenders and I'm purely making a decision based on looks rather than value, although arguably value is in the eye of the beholder blah blah.Looking at the classifieds I can't make sense of pricing - a 2012 110 XS for £37k which seems toppy compared the the special edition but others which seem a lot better value (1-2 years old)

I'd describe them as a 'Marmite' car; They're cramped, uncomfortable, noisy, appalling road manners and have the turning circle of the QE2.... Which all adds up to bucket loads of character.

I have driven an old (Series 3 IIRC) ex Raf 110 that a friend lent me for a few weeks, but that was a long time ago and I suspect they have moved on (at least a little!) since then.
Just swapped from an X6 to a 2.4 110 XS CSW and dont regret it for a moment. It takes a bit of getting used to (or remembering how in my case) steering is tiller slow but not bad once you get the hang of it and dont over steer it. Plus they arent as cramped as most make out. Gearbox is better than I remember the older ones were. I think the X-Techs look great but even with Defender residuals theres still a steep depreciation curve for new buyers (thats if you plan on selling it in the nearish future). I went for a 2.4 as its the last one without a DPF, though the dealers were adamant the 2.2 defender DPFs werent a problem i'm not a fan, and though I've no plans to tune mine its possible with the 2.4, not sure anyone has remapped a 2.2 yet (though Bell Auto Services -BAS in York may have). I plan on keeping mine for a long time, luckily for me mine was nearly fully farked by its 1st owner so only a steering guard to sort.
My gripe is a general one of DPFs clogging up if used a lot on the urban cycle, as I said above Dealers have said they havent had any issues with the 2.2 defender dpf (though did say the 2.2 Freelander DPF was problematic, different engine to the defender). I'd rather not have to worry about it as most of my use is now urban with very little motorway, plus the added advantage (currently) that remaping a 2.4 is easy the 2.2 less so, though that may be recitified in the near future.
