Hi, this isn't my usual forum so bear with me if I'm asking a daft question...

What's the market like at the moment for used Freelander 2s? I'd have thought that in the middle of winter it would be peak time, yet despite advertising at a keen price both on here and autotrader I've had nothing beyond a couple of scam inquiries.

The car in question is a manual, would that be putting people off?

Is it the usual tightening of belts during January and things will improve? Would I be better off holding onto it until spring?

I've sold several cars on PH, and this is the first time I've never had any interest at all. Any advice from those in the know appreciated.

When I was looking for a FL2 I wanted HSE auto and at at a push XS/SE auto as having driven cloth manual ones I wouldn't touch one with a long pole with some elses money either.
So I suppose the market could be very model dependent in my survey of one, but I doubt its as much as I make out.........What model/varient, colour, mileage and history is yours.

It's a 57 plate HSE, with 61,000 miles. I did wonder if the miles just pushed it out of some people's search (typically 60k is one of the boundary points on autotrader etc)

It's funny, we went looking specially for a manual as the wife hates autos.

We had one viewer before Christmas who was tempted, and since then we've lowered the price by a grand and had no calls!

I looked up your add and £14k5 is top private price for the car according to parkers http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/prices/used/land-rov...
I don't think mileage is an issue as 60k in 5 years is normal. If it were me I'd be looking to have it just below £14k as £13nnn is probably a bigger market again than £14nnn.
My other thought is that at that price point the private market is more risky and hence more limited, what do wbac offer as your back stop?

I asked a local LR Indie about book price and he reckoned it was way off the pace (he had a similar car but an auto up for almost £18k). The P/X price I've been offered on my new car (after haggling) is £13k. However I guess I can't dispute the fact it hasn't sold yet.

My main question though is do you think this is a reasonable time of year to sell, or is the market dead right now?

Hello,

We are looking for one around that price but sorry to say it has to be an auto for this type of car.

I think manuals we be in the minority soon. I am even considering converting my Defender to an auto.

Not much help sorry.

This really.

The manual is nice i'm sure but your going against the market really.
What are you wanting to upgrade/trade for?

Ford S-Max, and we've collected it now.

I've dropped the price to just under £14k as suggested and had a couple of emails/calls now (sadly one was just offering £11k... but still at least things are happening). One wants to view this week so fingers crossed.

Problem you've got Mark is that your car is a manual, in HSE trim its got to be an Auto to sell and hold its price.

GS & XS you can get away with a manual but again an Auto is much easier to sell and will retain its value.

Anyway why are selling one of the best cars in the current conditions now, forget the S-Max and get another Freebie or keep the current smile

A bit late now but £13k was a good bid by the garage who supplied your new car.
