RR Vogue TDV8, 2009 model message centre problem

Just got the car back from its service and the dashboard message centre won't display anything. I've played about with the options on the big screen and found buttons that let me select various things (range, fuel consumption etc) There is also a button that asks me if I want these displayed in the dashboard message centre.

I select that - but nothing appears.

Am I doing (not doing) anything stupid?
