I've got the loan of a 2010 ffrr tdv8 for a few days. I've been toying with getting one as a fishing wagon/ daily hack for a while.

What sort of mpg should I be getting? Around town it's been averaging 13 ish, which seems crap.
It also feels massive to drive & all it's weight, a marked contrast from the 2012 discovery sdv6 I had a punt in a few weeks ago.
The disco felt nimble & lively & easy to thread through town/ car parks , not what I hd expected at all.

Is it a 3.6 or a 4.4 TDV8?

If you're only getting 13mpg in town you've either got lead shoes or it's broken.

Sorry, it's a 3.6.
It does have a dpf full warning showing on the dash - car has 13k miles & is for sale at a main dealer.

If that DPF is on amber, you need to take it for a long run to clear it out...

...if it is on RED, it is now FUBAR!!

As for MPG, I used to get 25-27 out of the 3.6 and up to 31 on the 4.4.

A steady 65 on the motorway will see just over 30. My general driving (75% motorway) gives 27-28. Lots of urban reduces it below 25.

13 means you either have a petrol or a problem (unless you're driving everywhere at Mach 3).

Don't look at the OBC, take some real-life measurements!

My OBC was saying I was getting 30mpg at best, high 27's on average.

However, at-the-pump-measurements give me around 23.5mpg as a weekly average for motorway/A-road commuting. This drops to around 22.9 if we go to a home football match where we have loads of traffic to deal with.

Strangely though, the OBC range figure is just about spot-on given my real-life mpg.

That's for a 2102 4.4 V8

My 3.6 TDV8 returns ~17mpg. It is used for short journeys though and it does improve on the motorways.

I'm driving to Brugge this Saturday so will see if I can crack 30mpg.

I was getting 13mpg from my SC before I swapped it for a TDV8, and now get around 22-25 on average and up to 30 on a m/way run, so there's definitely something amiss with this one if it's only doing 13 without any "spirited" driving. Even with "spirited" driving, I can't imagine getting it as low as that!

It is all town driving (Guernsey is like one big town!)

It is a lovely thing though.

I think in Guernsey, you're never likely to see 30mpg!

That partially explains it. I would still hope to see more than 13 though.

Wife and I used to get 23-24 out of the 3.6 (was in a TDV8 RRS) and long term average in the FFRR 4.4 is 26-27. I've never seen 30 in the 4.4 but then again, I drive like <deleted>. wink

FWIW - My figures are for the FFRR.

My TDV8 RRS has seen 31 but usually hovers around 26 with me driving. SWMBO gets 29 out of the RRS.
