As above,

Its time for me to grow up and get a mans car haha had to many E46 M3s, Evos ect ect.

Anyways I am looking at something around 2005/6 with around 60/70k on them. There are plenty to choose from but for some reason they all have between 60k/80k on them is there a major service or something that fails within this margin?

Do you get a manual? It doesn't really bother me but haven't seen any advertised.

Is there any common issues to look out for or be warey of.

I don't do many miles at all so its for going to work and going out at the weekends.

I have done a fair bit of digging online but find ALOT of contradiciting information on them.

Thanks in advance

Just reading up about the EGR valves on them.

What are the auto boxes like on them. I know the Non Sport models I was advised they are "chocolate" and you can go through a few boxes in its lifetime.

...again, lots of misinformation out there!

Done with engine in situ but only needed on the 2.7 TDV6 (although obviously easier with the body off!). It's DIY-able, for someone competent with a spanner, just download the workshop manual from TOPiX.

All other engines in the range use cam chains.

2 hours to blank EGR off?!?!? 10 mins tops.... as guy above said, loaaads of misinformation there... cambelt is fairly easy as cambelts go, and is done in situ with loads of room, though specialist locking tools are needed...

a few things to look out for on a sport

check for any untoward knocks from suspension, play in wheel bearings, arms etc
EGR valve issues (cause sluggish low rev performance and most of the time EML)
Suspension issues, check it goes up and down smoothly and promptly
PAS leaks from rack or pipe joints
handbrake should operate smoothly without clunking, howling or knocking
Diff pinion and transfer box leaks
any warning lights on are a bad thing

Spend time looking for one that has FSH and has been looked after by either main dealer or a good LR indy and u should grab yourself a great car
