Folks

I've got a 59 plate Range Rover Sport on standard 20" wheels and Continental Sport Contact 275/40 R20 tyres. I've just bought a set of four 19" wheels with Scorpion Zero 255/55 R19 tyres that have come straight off another RRS which is being modified (by a specialist, Bespoke Cars).

My question is that the new wheels/tyres look rather larger - diameter and circumference - than the originals, and I'm just concerned about whether they will a) fit my car, and b) impact speedo/odometer readings (why wouldn't they, if the rolling circumference is bigger?).

I'm going to get them fitted later today, but I would welcome views about whether my concerns are misplaced.

Thanks

Steve

255/50R19 would be a standard fittment to the RRS but the 255/55R19 will fit (it's typically the tyre size used if fitting mud tyres on a RRS).

FWIW - 255/55R19 is actually a Disco3/4 size.

...and yes, there will be a slight change in the speedo reading.

The only thing to be aware of is if you have a TDV8 or Supercharged with Brembos, as there are only a couple of 19" rims which fit over the calipers.

Mine's just a standard 3.0 (V6?) so that shouldn't be a problem then.

One other point - will the original spare wheel still fit in an emergency, or should I be trying to get a 19" wheel instead (and will it fit where the 20" spare is?).

For the spare, it's not the size of the rim but the overall size of the wheel. You'd be better off getting hold of another 255/55R19, either as a full spare or perhaps a D4 space saver.

All fitted, they look very good and ride fine.

The fitter at Just Tyres was quite happy with the existing space saver spare and said it would comfortably get me home or to somewhere I could get a tyre replaced.
