JE Engineering - any recommendations?
Discussion
Hello people,
I have been on the internet and as looking at JE Engineering and was just wondering if anyone has had any experience of their services.
I was looking at remapping the Defender and perhaps a few extra pieces such as a stage 1 and 2 power increase, they claim it can take the power (2.2 Puma Engine) from 122 BHP to 180+BHP, and I'm wondering if this is correct, or whether there is some trickery involved.....
So does anyone have any expereince with JE .....
Or are there any other recommendations .....?
Thanks

I had my td5 disco upgraded 10 years ago by them when it was a few weeks old, the old girl still seems as peppy now as it did then
the transformation was dramatic, and anyone who had been in the car for more than a few feet remarks that it doesnt feel like a stock td5 :-)
i did manage to split the je intercooler after about 7 years, but 20 quid and the local welders had that sorted...
took my td5 from stock at aroun 136bhp to just shy of 200!
full stage 2 conversion. ecu, intercooler, turbo tweek

Thanks guys, I was and was not, considering the matter.... but after reading your write-ups, I'll consider the matter all over again.
My friend took the car up to 93mph (on a private road - so no laws broken) and I have driven it on the motorway at a steady 70 mph (ish), obvioulsy i'm using the car a huge amount around town etc, but I do need to do some road trips and on the continent I need to cruise at 81 mph (130kmh) - ish and it needs to be able to hold that for hours at a time.
JE claim that it can boost the BHP from 122 to 183, stage 2 which is the intercooler, airfilter and remap, from what you are writing this looks like its easily feasable.
I also see that some people have an overdrive or a ratio change to help with cruising. My 2.2 puma has a 6 speed gearbox, and with max rev at 4350, although I would not like to do that, it has a theoretical top speed of about 128ish MPH. I'm certain with a V8 Supercharge RR engine in it, then it would do that, but a tuned Puma or not, I would not like to hit the limiter at 4350.
My questions are .....
1) What is an Intercooler and what does it do?
2) The gear ratio in 6th seems fine ... does it?
3) Just to be sure ..... if I had the stage 2, then it would transform the drive....? (I think I know the answer to that - but am always after confirmation)
Thanks guys ........

So its an air conditioning unit for the engine?
But doesn't that take power to give power?
An inter cooler is a radiator that has air flowing through it instead of water. Not engine driven. Not air conditioning, which is dehumidifying. But doesn't that take power to give power?
A device that takes power to make power is a supercharger.
