TDV8 Range Rover tailgate rotted - any dodges

I am looking to tidy up the tailgate on my 06 TDV8 Range Rover. The paint has bubbled and it looks bad all along the bottom. Painter says he could tart it up but says I will be back to square 1 in no time. I am trying the breakers, new is expensive, I wondered about fitting a trim. Any dodges out there or am I going to have to spend the cash.
