Folks

I've got an early 2010 (59 plate) RRS TDV6. Over the weekend, I got a warning message on the dash "Only normal height adjustment available", and the suspension would not raise or lower to the access height. Each time I've switched on since I have been able to adjust the suspension height, but at some point during my journey the message reappears.

I've got a (used) Land Rover warranty through to October this year so I'm not overly concerned at the moment, although my local Land Rover dealer can't fit me in even for an inspection until next week so I wondered if any of you had experience of the problem and can suggest whether it is likely to be an easily electronics reset or something more serious? i wondered if it was simply down to the higher temperatures over the past few days, which wouldn't surprise me!

Thanks

Steve

Sounds like it's just a sensor problem.

TBH - You could pop into any LR dealer and ask them to at least have a quick look. Just wander up to the service desk & have a chat.

I had this a couple of months back on our 2010 Discovery 4 (same kit essentially) and it turned out to be the compressor not filling up the system properly. Needed a replacement. As I was under manufacturers warranty it didn't cost me anything, but I'm led to believe that it would have been a fair few hundred pounds.

My neighbour has a FFRR which has the same symptoms; he resorted to hitting the compressor with a hammer. He now needs to send his car in for a fix.

Thanks both. I won't be hitting any part of it with a hammer, but hopefully if there is a problem then my warranty will cover it!

I have the same issue on my 2007 RRS.

If I manage to get it in to the dealer before you I will post the results.

I'm under warranty so hope it's covered.

Right, Land Rover had my car for the morning today and diagnosed a problem with the air suspension compressor, which they replaced free of charge under my Land Rover warranty. The Vehicle Health Check also cites a technical bulletin relating to this problem, ltb00420v2, so presumably this is a fault they have seen before.

So I've had a pleasant morning sitting in the dealership drinking their coffee and reading my book, and now I'm home and everything is right with the world again.

Thanks for the confirmation. My RRS was purchased from an Indi so I will have to check. My warranty is as good.

Happy motoring.

Well, what a pain in the butt that was. Bought my RRS from a local indie, as the fault occurred within the first 3 months of ownership. Spoke to the dealer and they directed me to their repair garage. Took the car there with my warranty details and then the calls started.

First they replaced the compressor, that did not work. Then they replaced all the piping, that still did not work. Finally they said the front near side a suspension arm was the cause. They replaced this, loaded the new software for the compressor, as the one replaced was the original (they were amazed it had lasted so long) then the software caused the entertainment equipment to stop working. Apparently there is no direct link, tell that to my RRS.

Lots of arguing with the dealer who have been terrible (usual best friend when they are taking your money but don't want to know if they have to put there hands in their pockets), i have paid out a considerable amount of money so far and now the head unit is traveling the UK to be tested and hopefully repaired.

Picked the RRS up on Friday and its like a different vehicle. Apart from the hole where the radio should be the ride is so much better. Lesson learned for me is to test drive more than one car when shopping.

Taking it back this Friday so they can sort out the final bits and bobs.

Such a shame. I love the car but will never ever recommend the dealer to anyone......
