Defender AirCon
Discussion
Hello People,
My AirCon in the Defender is wickedly good, I'm just wondering if its too good and should be blowing as cold as it does.
It currently blows at about 1.5C, it can go down to 1.2C, in the middle of the day and its really hot, it blows at about 2.2C. On a run it will go down to 1.5C.

You can see the ambient temperature on the right hand side, I took these this morning before the sun had a chance to cook the car.
The AirCon distribution system is pretty knaff, as it all comes out of the centre consol, but its very cold. This would explain why my left arm gets frost bite. Other cars I have had, never blew this cold.
Are other Defender AirCon systems blowing the same?

The fact they even managed to fit aircon to the Defender is pretty impressive!! For aircon on pre 2007 models, you just had to open the bulkhead flaps and drive faster!!!
As you have correctly recognised, the air distribution only comes from the centre console, so there are going to be limitations straight away. And, IIRC the temperature is always going to be relative to the ambient temperature... but I can't remember what those figures are going to be.
However, what you've got there appears reasonable to me, especially as you have a black Defender - That colour is just going to soak up the heat from the sun. If you want to get it any better, I'd suggest:

- Make sure you've got recirculation on.
- Fit a full length, boarded roof rack (acts like a safari roof).
- Paint it white...
- Buy a Discovery!!!
