Thinking about the new RRS as the next car
Discussion
Hi there,
It looks like the time has come to replace the 3 series, I've now reached a point where some waft like oppulance doesn't seem like a bad idea
and we don't need two rockets but a nice comfy all weather vehicle that laughs at snow is a great idea.
However, we were looking initially at a decent 2011 L332. But the new Range Rover Sport looks fab! SWMBO likes it, my only worry (concern?) is getting a new motor and that cliff like depreciation....
The configurator priced up the go faster Derv at 64K (Gulp!!) now a bit of man maths has that at worth £30k after 3 years with 30k - 35k on the clock. Am I getting that right?
Man maths also has the 330 with star ship miles at £6k (106k Full BMWSH and a stack of main dealer bills)
am I just thinking "what the hell! a new prestige car!! Are you mad Sir?"
Or "we earn enough, work hard, why shouldn't we spoil ourselves? Doesn't matter what we get, it will depreciate"
Damn its a handsome car. the EVO vdeo didn't help...

It IS an awesome bit of kit both on & off road. However, I know it is soooo small but I have to admit that I am disappointed with that gear shifter...
IMHO - It shows rather than leading the way in SUV design, blah, blah... They feel they're playing second fiddle to BMW. On every other car in the Land Rover/Range Rover range (and for most other manufacturers), you push the lever forwards to change up and pull back to shift down. The new RRSport has this swapped around and I can't help but think this is to make it feel more like a BMW!!

A customer I sold a new 13 FFRR to in December 12 decided he wanted to sell it as he's relocating. I sold it to him for sticker ($95k). We bid him a bit less to buy it back, he declined and put it on t'internet. Sold it for $103k!
The new FF is still in huge demand and low supply. The 14 Sport will be too.
Cliff like depreciation? On new RR's? Are you serious.......

A neighbour - contrary to PH bias about RRSs, he is a very, very nice bloke - is on his second RRS (now the 'old' shape) and both have been bought on a deposit+36+baloon basis. The configurator priced up the go faster Derv at 64K (Gulp!!) now a bit of man maths has that at worth £30k after 3 years with 30k - 35k on the clock. His last car was worth over £30k at 3 yrs and 30k miles IIRC.
HTH
The new RRS is so close to the FFRR, there really is nothing to justify the extra money for the FFRR IMHO.
So to differentiate the two, you get a lower roofline & single tailgate. That's it!
Probably handles better than the FFRR too. It is a fantastic looking car, ditch the plastic rear valance and the fake air vents in the bonnet & it's perfect!
Just need to drive one now......!!!!

Sorry, utter crap. The new RRS is a great car but it's not the same as the RR by any means. So to differentiate the two, you get a lower roofline & single tailgate. That's it!

I've driven hundreds of miles in both, on and off road.

Next dumb question...
Are these available for test drives yet? I get the impression it's "events" led at the mo?
Could be wrong...
Most dealers have 2 demos in now, ready to take your deposit.....Are these available for test drives yet? I get the impression it's "events" led at the mo?

Which they will. We went to have a browse on Saturday. First dealer had a gorgeous chile autobiography in and was told we may get a cancelled order for May next year, failing that, looking at up to 12 months for a spec car. Second dealer had a cancelled slot for December del but would only hold it untill Monday. Drove the car, loved it and ordered a HSE dynamic with pan roof, meridian upgraded sound, ugly kid glass and a couple of other bits.
On Another note I could only get tyre ins,and 5 year service pack thrown in at an apr of 7.4% has anybody else got some deals to compare ?

Surprised you got that...
With a 12mth waiting list, they don't need to offer deals.

He knew I wasn't a tyre kicker so a handshake and everyones happy. I'm in business he's got order slots to fill all pretty simple really. Nice bloke, nice salesman and 'er indoors has her christmas pressie everyone happy.
Not all sales people are knob heads (contary to some of them on here) and not all customers are timewasters.
