For the past couple of weeks the radio / phone display on my 2011 Range Rover has been cutting out and the mobile phone signal has vanished for a few seconds about every 20 minutes. Sound disappears too.

I've just called Land Rover to book it in and it turns out it's not the car's fault entirely. Evidently some company or other has begun transmitting 4G TV signals and the TV module in Land Rovers (amongst other marques) doesn't like it. It causes the unit to re-boot, which in turn re-boots everything else.

There isn't a solution at present. However I am told that the TV tuner can be re-tuned in the settings menu for US channels. The TV won't work but it stops it messing with everything else.

So, if you've got a Land Rover product with a TV fitted and your radio / phone has been playing up for the past few weeks this is probably why.

I thought it was just me - 2008 D3 HSE - reassuring to learn otherwise.

Just so you're aware, there is a permanent fix for this which is being filtered out to dealerships over the next 2 weeks.

My FFRR started doing this last week as well - was starting to think I was in for a big bill. Thanks for the heads-up!

I had a car once which used to do something similar with Traffic Alert set to on, so I tried turning that off but (obviously!) didn't cure it.

Do you know more? I'd like to point my dealer in the right direction if there is more info. The car is in for other faults in about 10 days (snagging list no. 27b revision 4!) and it would be good to get this sorted too.

From LR Customer Services on another forum I'm on:

"Good Afternoon All,

Hope everyone is well?

Just an update regarding the issue some people are having where their stereos cut out.

The way TV signals are broadcasted changed at the end of August. Without going into to much technical detail this was causing the TV modules to re set quite frequently therefore making the stereos cut off.

Our engineering and technical teams have been trying to resolve this as a matter of urgency and as some of you are already aware it has been found that if you change the setting to US this stops the stereos cutting out. We are aware that this isn’t a long term fix but it at least allows you to use the stereo for the time being.

A proper fix has been found and should be released in approximately two weeks time.

I thank you all for your patience in this matter and assure you this is being dealt with as quickly as possible.

Many Thanks "

Hi chaps, the TSB for the TV fix has been released, so the dealers should be ready to go.
it's not a recall, so you'll need to phone them to get it sorted.

Same here MY11 FFRR. Began 1st Sept on return from the airport. Never done it before. I thought it had something to do with it standing for 2 weeks in the car park, which obviously was wrong. It was better last week but worse recently. I drive 2 hours a day to/from work and it happens at different locations each day.

No new info there frown

Been into the dealers today to let them know about the new TSB for this on Topix, but they said they hadn't been notified, and I have to wait for it to come through the official channels biggrin lol
So, I guess that's probably another month down the line wink

This has been driving me mad , I thought the iPhone connection was playing up , I have a TDV6 HSE on a 60 and a SDV6 on a 61 plate they are both cutting out every 10 mins , sometimes not coming back on until I shutdown car and restart , at least this is a known issue , hopefully sorted soon , will speak to dealer tomorrow .

I noticed this too while undertaking taxi driving duties for my good wife the other day. Sitting watching the TV in L405 and the signal would cut and re-tune every 25-30 secs. Guess this is the reason.

Will see what LR say when I have time to pop past with it.
