The passenger side headlight on my 2011 Range Rover Sport 5L has cracked from a stone it seems. Headlight is perfectly working/operating and nothing else damage except just the outside lense/glass bit.

After calling Range Rover themselves they insist the only way is to replace whole headlight which is £700 + vat.... (pardon me while I nip to the garden and pluck 50's from my money tree)...!!

Surely there must be a company out there who can refurish or place I can order just that plastic lense cover from? Any ideas or experiences?

Thats the photo of the headlight if you zoom in you can see perfectly undamaged besides the lense cover!

Nowhere makes lenses for these, or any other modern cars really as the lens is permanently glued to the backing piece and cannot be removed, your best bet is ebay, or stop being tight! Sorry to sound a tt but if you can afford a range rover then you can afford to maintain it! smile

We just got a brand new autobiography range rover in at work with front end damage and the headlights for that are a smidge under 1k each!

Expensive cars = expensive parts.

Love people like this - reminds me of a day porter who just failed his probationary period in our hotel. He told me he wont clean the inside of a hotel window as he couldnt reach the top, nor will he change a bulb (which quite frankly you could jump and headbutt it, not was not high) due to health and safety and not wanting to use a 1M high ladder. I asked him so when a bulb goes out in your bedroom do you go to tesco and buy a 69p bulb and do it yourself or call in a £100/hr electrician to do it for you due to health and safety?

Of course I can buy a new headlight for £1000 but with that attitude I wouldnt have been able to afford one in the first place! lol

Now we're talkin! Think I've found someone locally who said they're looking for one too for about £400 so £300 is less painful than £800 from landrover!

Would still be interested if anyone knows if its possible to repair the broken one for perhaps sale in future!

It is a ridiculous price from land rover i dont know how they justify it with most other xenon headlamps for other vehicles being half the price of these. Glad to be of assistance anyway smile

Still havent ordered this yet as am waiting for bodywork to be done first Wednesday next week - anyone else have any ideas on how to replace the glass? Or know of anyone selling this headlight not working that perhaps I can pinch the plastic cover from?

Its not there appears to be clips and it is not a water/air tight seal...! do you own a similar car that you can have a look at what im talking about the clips? you only have to raise the bonnet and look at the headlight from a birds view to see...!

Not sure if you sorted this, but it is usual practice to put headlights into an oven to remove the lens to paint the internals or fix Xenon levelling.

Worth a go, but as said if you cant buy a lens..
