2002 Compressor
Discussion
Hi All,
My 2002 Range Rover Vogue (68k on the clock) is currently in the dealership being repaired. A few days ago I had warnings that the suspension was 'inactive' and also self levelling warnings.... the dealership has come back and said it needs a new compressor. My issue and question is how long should a compressor actually last? It was already replaced in March 2011 and less than 10k miles ago, as well as going in for the same warning in Jan 2013. I was informed by somebody that I should expect a minimum of 120-150k in mileage before these pack up, let alone 2 in the last 2 years.....
Any thoughts on what I should be saying to the dealer?
Thanks
Kevin

Need to establish why it has failed.
Is it running too much to keep the pressure high enough in a system that has a leak?
Are the suspension airbags ok?
My P38 compressor failed a few years ago for precisely this reason.
New set of airbags all round (cost wasn't prohibitive) and a refurbed compressor and it has been fine for the last four years.

That's what I'd be looking into - just a shame whoever did the compressor a couple years ago possibly didn't as leaking bags may have been the cause even then.Is it running too much to keep the pressure high enough in a system that has a leak?
