Hi guys,

The Vogue needs to go in for some work as follows:

1. Rear brake pads (Brembo)

2. 4 x 255/50/20" tyres (Pirellis I think)

3. Tracking check / adjust.

Has anyone had any of the above done recently, if so can you confirm what you paid please?

I ask in light of recent service pricing, where my local dealer started out at about double what I eventually paid.

Many thanks

If you're sensitive about price (firstly you shouldn't be running one of these cars but that aside...) most of those jobs can be done at a decent tyre place.

You're looking at £200 per corner for the tyres and the 4x wheel alignment can vary depending on the amount of work.

Changing the pads is a very quick job (IIRC - The rears aren't Brembo). However, be aware that should your discs be worn, they'll need changing too, at which point you might need handbrake shoes and the setup can be time consuming. It's also worth noting that your brake fluid should be changed every couple of years...

condescending bks

NO-ONE likes chucking money away and if you can get the job done at half the price to the same spec whats the issue?

No problem with that (which is why I didn't labour the point & then continue with useful information) but too many people think they can run these cars on a shoestring...

The reason I can afford to run new Range Rovers is largely because I am sensitive about price pretty much whenever I buy something. Presumably you accept the first price you're given and for that I owe you a debt of thanks because people like you allow people like me to obtain better prices!

The tyre price you mention, have you actually managed to buy the 20" Pirellis for that? Because I cannot get that price. My local dealership wants £280 as does Kwik Fit even with 25% off.

My last set of 20" Pirellis came from ProTyre, last year and were £198 per corner... The only caveat is that they were for a RRS, so a slightly different size (275/40R20).

I don't know where in the country you are but it might be worth giving Andy 'Sarge 4x4' a shout...

Nah... I just have a 'pet' LR Tech as well as being LR Trained myself.

...the parts discount helps too. wink
