Looking at a used defender 90. is it ok getting insurance for people in the back? currently it has no seats but looking at a bench - whats the rules? also is the middle front seat ok?

thanks!

A lot depends on how many seats are stated on the V5, how professionally any aftermarket seats are installed and what's appropriate for the model year.

Define "originally". Mate of mine with an ex-BT 90 van found out the hard way that it was still on the books as a van, despite having rear windows and seats when he bought it.
But if the V5 says "station wagon" or "estate" and also states the correct number of seats you should be ok.

There are also a growing number of insurance companies that will refuse to cover land rovers with side facing seats, if they are factory fitted or fitted later
