Anyone else thinking of buying a new Defender before they end production in 2015?

The idea keeps creeping into my mind as it's such a big part of UK motoring history and it truly is a car that would be a keeper.

Defender 110 Utility Wagon for me, although I'd like it in champagne gold (a Vauxhall colour from the mid '80's) with a black roof. Not sure that's possible though!

Yes, I've thought about it. Currently running an L322 and a Defender 90. I suspect you may not ever lose any money on a run-out Defender! Ridiculously, I'm not sure I want to part with my current 90 and even I would struggle to justify having two!

I'm lining up to make the plunge as well, hopefully a 110 County Station Wagon

Really not sure about the Defender range and would appreciate help in Speccing up the above with the essential options. Will probably choose black as a base colour.

I'd certainly buy a 2015 Defender if I could.

Commercial-spec 90 with decent seats, in Stornoway Grey with black wheels cloud9

I think you're right from memory

Knowing LR, I suspect that there will be final 'special edition' of some kind to mark the end, the question is to wait for hat and risk not getting one, or buy one a bit earlier in the year.

I bought mine last year. I didn't want a car from the "Friday" year. wink

Joking aside, I hear the orders are filling up for the final run, so book early to avoid disappointment, etc. etc.

Which Defender model is the best seller? I'm looking at the 110 County Station Wagon, but my biggest concern is losing a lot of money if I don't get on with it and want to sell. I would prefer to buy the best Defender for residuals, then change to the one I want if I enjoy the whole Defender occasion.

Nice, how long do you have to wait for it?

Just checked the spec difference between the XS and the County and the XS is a no brainer as the standard extras far outweigh the base price (normal I know). Now looking closely at the XS as I then won't have to worry about Speccing it up.

I've picked up a rumour today - and it IS only a rumour - that JLR are looking at. 5.0 Supercharged version as a final run-out......

Does sound seriously tempting assuming you could get one, however I've been convincing myself that a slow diesel adds to the attraction of a defender

Interesting. A Bowler/LR collaboration on the run-out?! Anything like the 50th Anniv model would be tempting - even if it was with a 5.0 N/A engine.

Only 50 of the 5L models to be made apparently. Whether those are all UK market or not I don't know. I imagine those will knock on the door of £40k.

I'm now in the final process of ordering a 110 XS Station wagon. Car is black, already built (but still not registered) and only extra fitted over the XS spec is a tow bar. Waiting to find out if any extra discount will come my way for taking this ready built car rather than speccing a new one myself.

Quick question, looks like the Defender will cease production due to EU regs, could this effect the cars sale ability in the future?

They are very much in demand.

Stopping production will only make them more saleable/nickable.
