So how does it "project" an image representing the driver's point of view?
To do that, the camera would have to have near enough the same line of sight and would be equally blocked by the bonnet.

Yeah, a forward looking camera is one thing, but a HUD to make the bonnet look transparent? Seriously, how d'you get the correct point of view? A camera mounted under the grill will give you just that.....a view from under the grill which isn't the same as what the driver would see if the bonnet and front of the car wasn't there.
