Hi,

driving back in the rain was getting annoyed at someone sounding the horn at me and realised it was me! horn / alarm was going on and off intermittently.

if i stopped and turned everything off the alarm just sounds continuously. if i start the engine its intermittent .

undid the positive battery lead to shut it up.

now the rain has stopped have ventured out and if i connect the battery lead the horn starts immediately much to the joy of my neighbours.

any ideas for a luddite?

thanks frown (td5 90 not remote locking )

Mine did something very similar.
Eventually tracked to a pair of shorted cables behind the near side headlight, sending the Body Control Unit (like an ECU but for all the "other" stuff) in to meltdown.
It took a fecking age to trace the fault as it meant literally tracking along every bit of cable on the car outside the engine bay.
Next step for me was gonna be to replace the loom and/or the BCU.

It was no fun at all.
I resorted to an auto-electrician in the end as he had all sorts of magic kit to trace faults and narrow down where it was.
Having said that, first time round, I got it back from his workshop, parked up, got five paces away and the sodding alarm went mental again.
Second attempt he found the chafed wires.
