Discovery 3 self destruction...
Discussion
Hello,
So our D3 (2007, 60,000) just failed on the motorway... total cut out and dashboard like a Christmas tree.
Managed to start it again (all seemed well) so drove to the local LR dealer.
They said the following:
1. Could be a fuel issue/might not, no idea till we look at it, could cost £3k plus
2. As such you might as well trade it in... we will offer you £10K for it against a GS with 20,000 miles on the clock, so you need to give us £20K
Over the past few months it has been back to LR a number of times with error codes but this seems to have become a bit more serious. We have owned from new and it has had multiple suspension issues, handbrake issues, fueling issues etc...
The offer to trade in for a GS seems rather derisory, especially considering we have been having so many issues with the existing Discovery.
Simple question, if this was your vehicle, what would you do:
1. Fix it
2. Sell it to LR and take their offer
3. Sell it elsewhere - buy something else
Thanks

Sounds like a troublesome car!
Where are you based? When i had a L322 these guys in Battersea were amazing and really helped out when i had issues. Good honest bunch of guys and really fair labour rates

Thanks both - 6th Land Rover and have to say have become somewhat disillusioned by the brand...
The car is based in the North East, but thanks for the London recommendation, have a Range Rover Classic I keep there. Ironically the Classic is considerably more reliable than any of the new cars I have had from Land Rover, it just keeps going!

Might not be much use where you are as he's in Leicestershire, but Stuart Armson could be worth a look.
