Freelander 2 key not working

Key would not open the doors at all but it did start the car when inserted in the docking station. Main dealers wanted £190 for a new fob because the battery could not be replaced. In fact you can change the battery with a little know how. I bought a battery of the internet for £6 and my neighbour who has a soldering iron changed it no problem. I have told him he needs to go into business replacing them as I am sure there would be a demand.
