We,ve just had a slightly unpleasant experience with my Wife's Discovery while heading back from our Germany trip.
On the last leg driving towards Calais on the Autoroute from Gent we were enjoying a fairly quiet road and cruising at the 120km/h limit.
All is fine, enjoying the smoothness of the rude etc., and then BANG ????
The near side A-post outer trim decides that it no longer wants to be part of the car and releases its self of its duty !!!!
The bottom end of it being traped in by the bonnet resulting in the free thinking piece of trim simply flapping about and hammering against the outside of the post and passenger door window.
Wife nearly peed her pants.
After stopping to inspect, found the top plastic location studs broken and completely removed panel to prevent any further paint damage.
Land Rover Service met us back in the UK and carried out a temporary fix simply to reduce wind noise for the remainder of the drive up north.
Has this problem been reported before ?
I'll post a couple of photos later today.

Has it had a replacement windscreen?

Reason for asking is they need to remove both A pillar trim parts and the clips are known for being rather fragile.
I managed to remove the pass side one on the D3 but it took time and care not to force anything.

When i got my screen replaced last month, the fitter didn't have new clips so if any got broke, it would have been up to me to get new ones.

That's the only thing i can think of that would cause it to be broken and to come off, is the trim marked or scratched in case you hit a branch or such at some point and damaged it that way?

High A.J.M.
Thanks for the interesting feedback.
The outside face is undamaged and all clips are intact except for the top locating pin which is part of the panel moulding and is broken off.
Don't know if its a replacement screen as it was a 9 month old purchase.
New panel being fitted in the morning.

Well I never. Exactly the same thing happened to us a couple of years ago whilst driving through Spain - on a Disco 3 on the drivers side - wife was driving at the time http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/3.gif

Managed to force it back into the lugs and taped it up until we got to our destination - and then fitted it back properly and its never happened again. Put it down to the very high crosswinds & temperature coming off the Spanish plains at the time !
