Engine Malfunction light - 63 Defender

I'm looking for more information about the Engine Malfunction light on my Defender. It went off on Friday night as I was driving through snow, and I ended up with minimal power to get me home - I'm still waiting to see if I can get into the garage and was wondering what may have caused it? The manual (useful as ever) says "Illuminates to indicate an engine fault. Avoid high speeds and seek qualified asistance urgently".

Any clues?

Oops - mistake on the title, it is a 62 defender!

Turned out to be air getting into a pipe.

Who knew I had 3 years of Land Rover Assist ... I certainly didn't! Ended up dropping it off at Guy Salmon in Knutsford, picked up a Disco4 for a couple of days.
