Hi,

Hoping someone may be able to provide some advice, so thank you in advance.

I am currently in the process of downgrading the car to something more practical and looking for viable secondhand options - so far i had set my sights on a BMW 520D Touring (estate). We are also in the process of looking to start a family in 2015, and will require the space for various children and hobbies (hobbies - towing motorbikes, throwing road and mountain bikes on it or in it, throwing walking gear in, dog in boot, rugby lads and kit etc.

Long story short - I've always fancied a RR Sport 4.2 automatic, i have liked the style of it, the driving position, and the general feeling of safety. With the inclusion of children in the man maths the RR Sport makes it a solid choice.

I don't typically do many miles a year, typical trips are 10 miles round trips to work through rat runs in the city, the odd 500 mile trip south, 150 mile round trips to North wales, Lakes, and peak district. I do not do much more than 10,000 miles a year if that normally.

I don't really want to spend much more than 15-20k so this puts me firmly in the 05-06 reg plate and circa 60-70k mile mark according to autotrader searches.

Can anyone provide any advice on what i should be looking for or at on a typical 05/55 reg with 60-70k miles? Any typical pitfalls? Is a second hand RR sport worth considering? What are service charges like? Repair costs?

Thanks all.

I have a RRS TDV8 and use it daily for commute (40miles) and long runs to visit family.

In the year I've had it and covered 12k, I have had the compressor and altenator go.
In addition to this, i've serviced, done the brakes and put a battery on.
Probably need to do tyres mid this year now.

I do have a warranty, which paid for the alt and comp, though it took longer to get turned round due to authorisations etc.

Would absolutely recommend one.
