Small block 350 into a classic rr

Now this was Overfinch's stock in trade but how much work is involved taking a small block chevy like this

and actually making it work where a rover v8 has been?
Does it take much to get them beyond 300bhp and can you lpg them?

I've done it - see profile. The yank TH350 or 700R4 autoboxes are the best approach as they are strong and parts are cheap for them. They can be made to mate to the LT230 transfer box. Overfinch tended to mate the chevy up to the ZF 4 speed auto, which was pushing the envelope of the box quite a bit.

That victor jnr manifold is unsuitable for a heavy 4x4 (ask how I know..) you will need to swap it for an edelbrock dual plane. Resell the victor on ebay.

Interesting stuff Eliot. I'll read it through.
I'm going to need a new cam, rockers, probably HG on my 4.2 so whilst not a compete rebuild the top end needs to come apart.
I'm guessing I'm probably only getting 150bhp out of it currently which for 2 tonnes isn't a lot. It'll never be quick but I did like the sound of a 375bhp OF 570 I saw last summer.
So bearing in mind I have some cost to come if I wanted 300bhp to run reliably and on lpg do I swop engines or can I send it somewhere like Turners to have it rebuilt, top hat liners etc to reach this figure?
