RR Meridian audio system not made by Meridian!

[grand cherokee]

yes, its true as confirmed a few minutes ago by Meridian!

its made under licence using Meridian technology

this all came to light because I've recently noticed on some tracks there is a 'distortion/warbling' that seems to come from the rear left

so logically I rang the supposed manufacturer to ask for their advice - they could offer no help and referred me to Land Rover!

at home I have a 'decent' av system so was able to discuss the possible problems - seems I need to get an audio test cd to run through frequencies etc and try and source the problem - I guess a 'blown' speaker cone or loose speaker mounting?

bloody dubious marketing by Land Rover in promoting a 'Meridian system'??

Not surprised tbh. Just like the Audi system isn't made by Bose or b&o. Tbh with the packaging and complexity it wouldn't make sense for these audio companies to be doing it. The media box in your vehicle is so much more than a sound system.

Nice little earner for the high end hifi names. I have a Cabasse 'system' in a French car and it's terrible.
