i read that earlier, but a new shape RRS isnt the same as a disco due to be replaced in 18 months? im probably wrong and demand is still strong, but thought id ask others what their experience has been on discovery specifically.

Hi all. I am new to this forum so apologies for any errors.
I am trying to buy a Discovery 4 SE Tech at the moment.
So far I have managed to get 8% off (around 4k), but if you
have experience of getting larger discounts I would be grateful
if you could offer me any advice on how you did it. Thanks

Also - Has anybody got any advice on the wheels. I love the look of the 5 spoke 20 inch wheels but I am
concerned that the ride quality and MPG will suffer on the car so may stick with the seven spoke 19's.

Any comments appreciated

I run 20's in summer and 19's in winter on Vred winter tyres. Honestly I notice very little difference if any on fuel consumption. A 75mph motorway run will give 30. and 85mph autoroute run will give 27.

Comfort difference also very hard to discern on the air suspension. Main difference is the much greater resilience to kerbing etc that the 19's give.

stick with the 19's

i have had mine since Jan - replaced my 4.4 TDV8 RR with it

SE tech in Corris grey with rear tints and HD Tow bar.

After 5000 miles i have to say I am pleased overall

Good points-

LR SAT NAV is finally OK - I can now bin the TOM TOM
Good tow car - more stable than RR
loads of space
Great Stereo
Surprisingly good roadholding

Bad points

Struggles to get 25 mpg - got an easy 30 from my RR
Towing only 20 mpg - 25 in RR

Thinking of visiting Alive Tuning

anyone been there?

A friend of mine just got £5k off, it was a stock car at the dealers, black with black. Not my choice.

When ordering our D4, I opted for the 20" wheels and didn't regret it. IMHO, they looked much better than the 19"s. I swapped over to 19's with winter tyres from Nov through March. Ride quality wise, there was little difference, slightly firmer on the 20"s however, the 20's provided better turn in and slightly less roll when cornering.
