"Restricted Performance" warning, 10MY 3.6 TDV8
Discussion
Hi folks,
My FFRR 3.6 TDV8 keeps going into "Restricted Performance" mode. I basically get zero power and the dash lights up like a Christmas tree. It's happened 6 times now, always under very gentle accelleration / holding the speed steady going up hill, anywhere between 40-70mph. I pull over, turn it off and back on again and the faults are cleared and it runs fine again, for about 20 mins. Today it ran for my entire commute (50ish mins) and was fine.
There's also smoke coming out the back, most noticeable at night in the lights of the car behind but not really visible during the day so isn't plumes of thick black smoke.
Several online forums suggest the battery might be low on juice, which would explain the pre-heater not working and the alarm going off when the manual timer is set instead. It would also suggest the reason why the reversing camera is intermittent and the fault code flashing up, but the car always starts without hesitation so i'm not convinced it's this.
All these issues could be unrelated of couse.
The car saying it's due for a service in 1400 miles. My local LR dealer suggested it was £450 for the minor service - which included the oil and the oil filter (how generous) or £632 for the major service which adds a pollen filter and a fuel filter. Seems a lot for basic service items and I'm dubious about the other issues being sorted by the dealer at these rates.
Half of me says just get it booked in, it's an expensive car so bills will be expensive too, deal with it. The other half says I'm going to be ripped off.#
Does anyone have any experience with these faults? Can anyone recommend a good LR indy near Petersfield/Guildford (apart Keith Gott in Alton, I've had baaaad experiences there.)

Ha ha, "arm chair experts" - brilliant.
It's booked in with Rovertune in Reading on Thursday morning. Sarah was great on the phone - good knowledge and friendly attitude and the fixed cost for the service is half what my local stealership quoted.
I'll post after the experience and advise what the issue was FYI.

Canrover - Yes I did.
MANY apologies for the late reply.
It was caused by a split turbo hose. Very common issue apparently and a £35 part which takes about 10 mins to swap. You can't see the split as they typically split underneath, but if you have a good poke about you'll feel it. Had it done and 2 weeks later the same message flagged up - the other hose had split. This time only £30 and I did it myself. it's probably best to buy an upgraded part though as it'll only keep happening. The hoses aren't up to the job.
Good luck
