I have an early TDV8 Vogue. Yesterday the suspension was in the kneel position. I started the car, ran it for thirty seconds then pushed the button to raise the suspension to normal height, not much happened, a message appeared saying suspension slow to raise, then it did rise.

Can't hear the compressor straining or being loud. The car is new to me this week. How worried should I be?

Thanks in advance.

We have a Director with an 08 Sport & that is slow to rise (Ooer missus!)

We have also had a lot of warning lights & message HDC fault, Transmission fault, Suspension lowered. Our local Indy specialist says it is the suspension pump failing.

Sorry to be bearer of possible bad news OP.

It could be the compressor, the piston "ring" wears out and then the comp takes longer to pressurise the tank. There are repair kits available now quite cheaply if you know what to do, or the compressor can be replaced but I have a feeling they are quite pricey for the whole unit (hence the repair kits now available). Someone else will know more but I think they have a nylon piston ring which simply wears out in the end.

If you're reasonably handy it's worth replacing the nylon ring that's been mentioned in the compressor. It's a straight forward job, I did it 2 years ago and the compressors been fine since.

It's going into APB Trading in Kidderminster next week for a full service so I might ask them to quote on the nylon piston ring repair idea.

Anybody used them before?

Seem good on the phone and website is professional. £50hr+Vat labour rate.
