Series 1 project.
Discussion
Looking for a Series 1 landy for a project. I have the D3 so this is a tinkering project to keep beside it as the D3 is the daily driver.
I would prefer a 80 or 86, soft or hard top. Doesn't really matter as i have my own plan for the car so it will get changed about.
Can be non runner, in parts, or incomplete. Prefer to have tags or book.
Just looking for a nice long term project to enjoy and restore.
Does anyone have anything that could be suitable, or know of one that fits the above description.
Post on here or send me a email.
Thanks
So far, i've been messed about with 2 people, both had cars for sale, one kept bumping the price up and up. Then stuck it on ebay.
The other has strung me along for 6 months saying it's for sale, agreed a price etc. Only for him to turn around and say it's not for sale.
So. Rather pissed off with them and hoping for something else to turn up.
I know every man, woman and their dog is looking for one now, so trying to get something before the boat sails and prices go very silly.

The Series One club forum is really your best bet for finding a good project, I've often read threads on there where people new to Series Ones have nearly bought ringers which the forum members have exposed.
The Series One club are a friendly and knowledgeable bunch.
Any non-runner in pieces but generally complete worth restoring shouldn't cost much over £1000, unfortunately anything Series One now has a halo and attracts inflated concepts of value.

I'm on there, and have spoken to several people, including the area rep for the highlands of Scotland. I'm Central Scotland area.
It appears i've missed the boat for a few years for getting a half decent starting point, a lot of the barn finds, and easier cars have been found and restored. What is left are the harder examples, the rotten out cars and those belonging to people who feel they are worth a fortune because of a tv show.
The area rep says that i may end up spending £6000 plus on a car to get one road worthy again if i'm lucky enough to find one for my £3000 buying price.
However, all said. I have a lead to call a guy who has one.
Should be interesting. I'm still keen for one. It's just that the market has shifted a lot more than i had expected. The cost of parts, tyres etc have all climbed steadily.
