I've decided to move on from my M3 as it doesn't work for our family and we have decided to go for an RRS having tried that and the FFRR. I have been offered the showroom car which I assume has the new diesel 3.0 but the little devil on my shoulder is saying 5.0. For the same price as the showroom car I can have a 14 or 64 plate with low miles. Does anyone have experience of the new 3.0 as I was unable to try that? The fuel consumption of the 5.0 does not concern me much as I only do 5-6k miles per year, is the power really noticeable over the 3.0 (hoping to try one later this week). Also, are the MY16 changes a move on from the MY15(especially the sat nag!). Many thanks.

Tempting save its another 25k (the price of a good Caterham) and the rear seats aren't good for three. I have thought about selling a child to deal with both problems but I didn't think it would raise enough!

For that amount of miles I would go petrol supercharged. You get a lot more car for your money and will certainly notice the power difference. Petrol cars are really rare in comparison to diesels, usually a lot lower mileage for age/condition. Im on my 2nd petrol V8 now and usually put 60-80K miles on them. Next time I change will be to a few year old 5.0L

just a point of note, LR have put a revised engine in the RRS SDV6. Now makes 306HP and 700Nm. Dont get stuck with the old unit which i recall was 275h.

Cheers all. Test drove a supercharged and 4.4 diesel today and now in a quandary. The supercharged was great on stop start but on the motorway didn't feel as strong as I thought it would be. The 4.4 was a really nice smooth powerful unit and lovely on the motorway! Waiting for changeover figures as the 4.4 was brand new and the supercharged 2014. The noise is likely to sway it I think!
