HELP! 2010 onwards RRS or Range Rover?
Discussion
Hi all sorry if this has been raised already...
I am looking to buy a Range Rover...have tested a very nice sport '59 plate (3.0L V6) which I liked but am wondering whether to go for the normal Range Rover? Haven't test driven one yet...but worried about costs and potential issues/probs etc? Friend has advised the 3.6 V8 RR would be much more expensive when things go wrong (says the Peugeot engine in the RRS '59 and later are v good engines)...can anyone offer advice at all?
Thank you!

In a similar dilemma right now. Only it's between a Sport or a Disco. The Sport is winning on aesthetics at the moment.
Can't help the OP much but to me the RRS has a sharper look than a somewhat podgy FFRR. I guess you simply get more of everything with the Range Rover except some driveability. Too get more one has to pay more.
Peugeot engine?!?! IIRC - PSA got involved with some of the design work of the original TDV6 but it's not a Peugeot engine.
Anyway, your best bet is to go and drive them both as they are very different.
As for the service bills... Believe me, a RRS can get expensive too but it's all relative. It might be more expensive than servicing your average Vauxhall Corsa but slightly 'more affordable' than keeping a 550 Maranello on the road.

Ive had both models over the years, running cost is mostly luck simple as that really . You may go 100K miles with just routine maintenance, or you may have a car with a few faults
LR sell hundreds of thousands of units per year, a small percentage have faults.....
My strategy is to buy the car I can get the most VFM deal on at the time e.g. something like a 4 year old, 30k mile RR for under £35k in top spec. Thereby minimise depreciation, which is the true largest cost of running one of these cars.
Fuel cost differences and the occasional £500-1000 bill are almost irrelevant compared with losing £1k per month just driving it ......
