Thinking of changing to a 3 year old RR for my everyday car and occasional off road .. can I really sensibly use it off road?

It is nothing short of phenomenal off-road...

The main things you need to be aware of:

  • Size - It's a wide car!
  • Rear 'tray'. There's a trim panel by the rear bumper which can sometimes get bent.
Otherwise, just take it easy and watch those lower extremities.

Wife's Evoque is seriously impressive on the hills up here. Miles better than I would have thought. (Had 5 Defenders myself - been proper off road)

Get some General Grabber ATs fitted or something similar. I've had a few iffy moments with my Sport while green laning on the Pirelli Scorpion Zeros that are currently fitted.

I took my L322 off road quite a bit when fishing. As someone said - phenomenal!

I have an original RR Sport and took it home from the dealer via a green lane

Its in the brand DNA
As soon as they stop being capable off road the brand dies in my opinion

I agree and would use mine off road when I get it. Its just all the tight hedgerow in Devon that puts me off. Will have to get plenty of trips out to Salisbury plain and wide open spaces.

You are 100% right there.

Every new Land Rover has to be able to get through the same 4x4 test course weather its a freelander or the latest RR. However my guess is that some 4x4 enthusiast would view the course as a little tame.

Short answer, yes. I have a L322 used off road and it is good but as previously mentioned appropriate tyres are key. Don't rule out more road biased 4x4s if off road use is occasional. From what I've seen most will do ok. The weak point is the human bit!
