Hi All
Thinking of buying a new RR Sport HSE Dynamic for delivery Oct/November 2016 and I have a couple of quick questions please:
Options....
Only adding Rear sun protection and adaptive Zenons, are there any really essential options that the car requires (rather simply than nice to have)?
Tyres and brakes...
Does the car eat these, what mileage are owners getting currently?
Living with one on a day-to-day basis...
It will be used as my DD and will probably do a fine job, what are they like to live with in normal traffic?
ICE...
I currently have an F10 M5 which has very good ICE. I hear the current Land Rover ICE is a bit behind the times, sluggish and well, just a bit s
t - does it integrate with apple, what's the sat nav like, is it as bad as has been suggested?
Facelift...
Does anyone actually have any idea when the facelift car is due and what we can expect, i.e. will the in-car technology be updated and if we do know when the facelift is due when will I have to ensure my new one is in production?
I was very impressed with the drive I had yesterday and I have a 24 hour test shortly which will be interesting. First impressions are I'd rather have this than the X5 M50d that is my other option.
Please feel free to help me choose one way or another with your thoughts

Facelift is rumored for end of 2017. Probably have minor exterior / interior / powertrain changes with new color choices and importantly (for me at least) more up to date tech
Depends how urgently you need a new car, personally I would wait for the facelift
Thanks for the reply.Depends how urgently you need a new car, personally I would wait for the facelift
My current car is on lease and goes back November so I'll need to have something in place for then.
The package looks great, running costs can't be any more than an M5 so that's not an issue.
My main concern echoes yours and that's the in-car technology which I've read is best described as 'clunky and slow'
LR have always been lagging behind the Germans when it comes to ICE. However whats installed in the current XE is meant to be considerably better (but still behind the Germans) Might be worth a look. Mercedes and BMW have controls like idrive and MMI, which both work well. LR just doesn't get it and sticks with the touch screen

My dealer reckons facelift a year after Rangie, so end 2017, but who knows.
Technis still way behind, just had a new Disco Sport and thought the updated infotainment was worse than the 10 year old Freelander tech it replaced.
I'm going for a 1st Sept reg.....

Ice integrates with my iPhone no problem. Phone connection actually very good. Music over blue tooth works well but a few button presses to connect up. Really annoys me that current track doesn't show on instrument binnacle just on main screen.
Sat nav works well but touch screen a little bit clunky.
Mine is now on 39k miles on original tyres pads and discs but all probably on last legs.
Essential options for me are Pano roof, sidesteps (fixed!) Meridian sound, Heated wheel (never thought I'd ever say that) and heated rear seats (for my daughter!!).
7 seat option for kids only and electric operation so unnecessary. Soft close doors nice but not essential.
Great cars as DD's

Do you have to connect your phone to play via Bluetooth every time you get into the car or are you referring to a once only pairing?
With BMW for example the car will automatically connect either via cable or Bluetooth immediately (providing it's already paired)
I'm using the system is the same one that I have in my XF (2014).
In all honesty its not that bad. Sound quality is great (Meridian speakers), sat nav gives you a visual direction in the central binacle for the driver.
I don't have an iPhone (Andriod user here) and the phone connects uickly via bluetooth and I can stream music from Spotify etc. One frustration of the streaming (and it may be an andriod thing and I don't have an iPhone to test) is that it doesn't show you the playlist (you just get simple skip/play buttons) but it is responsive and easy to use.
Sat Nav is ok, a little slow when entering data (you have to pause after each key stroke to wait for the keyboard) but i'm not worried if it takes an extra 15 seconds at the start of a journey. Verbal directions aren't as descriptive as those that you get with TomTom.
Eg. Instead of... In 400 yards take the 2nd left onto Wendover Road, you get - turn left in 400 yards (which can throw you of course occasionally)

Sounds to me the system is as you would expect in any modern car and functional, possibly not quite as up-to-date as the BMW setup but does the job perfectly well.In all honesty its not that bad. i've just re-read the first sentence on my last post - that doesn't make much sense hahaYes, it's perfectly functional, it doesn't have all the nice graphics (eg. tyre pressures) that the BMW has but its very easy to use while on the move
With a regards options
Panoramic roofs add a lot of light to the interior (and a popular choice)
Mine doesn't have side steps, and therefore it can be stretch for little (and old people) to climb aboard
The ICE works well, but as said above, not the quickest touch screen/processor in the world...expect 1/4 second delay between key presses.
iphone is available for music every time I get in the car (one time paired)

Button presses I was referring to is to bring up audio on screen then select my music then connect to phone for music. The Bluetooth connection is already there (thus giving the my music option). If you switch off with it connected it goes straight there next time you get in.
By the way, Wilmslowboy, side steps are dealer fit option at £1200 I think. Well worth it and even my business partner who ordered his without, is now getting them fitted a couple of months on.

Fixed steps look awful and affect re-sale. Get the powered ones or don't bother. Pano roof is a great option and is very desirable at re-sale time. The nav is a little clunky and the touch screen is a bit of a pain but it does work. Phone connects through Bluetooth, connects in seconds and should never need re-pairing.

Powered steps are dreadfully slow and can catch your shins and affect ground clearance (I seem to recall). Car looks far better with fixed steps....See, funny how we can all have different opinions

And quite seriously how can fixed steps affect resale when all you would have to do is remove them and put them on ebay if they really did compromise the price or desirability?
