I've had to disconect the battery on my MY99 P38 to charge it. When I reconnected it I entered the (EKA?) code via the dirver's door but the engine is still showing as immobilised on the dash and won't start.

I know thw code works as I've used it before, so I'm stumped as to why it doesn't now.

A few points that may or may not be affecting it:

• One of the bonnet catches has failed (I need to get the car to a garage to have this fixed!). Could the 'bonnet open' error be causing a problem?

• The battery is not be fully charged - could this be an issue?

• The central locking SOMETIMES fails to trigger all doors and SOMETIMES I can't get into the boot depsite the car being unlocked - does this suggest a problem with the door lock and could this be stopping the code?

• I get a message on the dash telling me to 'press the remote', but doing so has no effect and I don't know if it means lock or unlock or both.

• The key fob lights up but is currently not locking/unlocking the doors.

• When I turn the key to enter the code, there is a 'bleep' noise and the indicators flash at every turn of the key. I don't remember if it did this last time I used the code - is this right?

• The manual tells me to make 4 anti-clockwise turns before entering the code. Online guides say 1 anti-clockwise turn. Which is correct?

Sorry for the long list, but I really need to get the car moving as it is booked in for work to be done and an MOT.

Many thanks in advance for any help!

Update: Car now running. It must have been the bonnet catch as I fixed that and it took the code. Only 'oddity' was that the 'four turns to lock' wasn't required and it took the code after one turn to lock.
