Sounds like a really good price if it's genuine with a full mot. If you really want a canvas they are easy to convert, it's just nuts and bolts. When I bought mine is was a hardtop but I sold that and it's now a truck cab in winter and a canvas bikini top in summer (or a convertible if it's sunny).
Interior should also be easy to sort, brand new seats are dirt cheap, and seats and steering wheel is basically a series Landy interior! New and used spares are widely available and really cheap.

Thanks worth a look then
.
It's a petrol but not a v8 unfortunately, will see, anything major to check when I take a look over it?
Petrol is better than diesel with these, more powerful and not that much worse on fuel. Check bulkhead and chassis for rust other than that it's just the basics check all the gears stay in, engine doesn't smoke too much, knocks and bangs etc

Thanks seems about right he wants 2500 pretty solid 50k from new, with 12 months MOT.
The only let down is the interior plus I wanted a canvas one..
I guess it should not lose me any money?
£2.5k with a 12 month ticket is pretty good. What body type and engine is it? The diesels tend to be worth slightly less than the petrols, as the petrol is a much nicer engine to live with. The only let down is the interior plus I wanted a canvas one..

Pick ups can be worth less than the station wagons and van sided versions. You can convert the pick ups to van sides for a couple of hundred if you aren't bothered what colour the side panels are. Most roofs are white.
If its a full couny station wagon for £2.5k, then snap his arm off. Getting rare now and will be the first of the Series 3 to sky rocket in value.
Ignore the mileage. Series 3s should be bought on condition. Make sure you check the gearbox. Like many LRS, this is a weak point. Syncros can wear out, so they pop out of second gear when you lift the clutch going down a hill. If you are lukcy a spring can fix it, if you are unlucky then your looking at £500-£800 for a box rebuilld.
If yours have overdrive, then tats a brucey bonus. They command £300-£400 used!
OP, if it is a County and you need an interior, I will shortly be selling mine. Exmoor trim, grey "Land Rover" logo. Front high back seats plus the metal bases and cubby box. Three logo'd middle row individual seats, even matching logo'd sun visors plus grab rail. Also two rear (tailgate) bench seats in black vinyl. All in extremely good condition.
Only reason for sale is they are currently in my early 110, it's ex RAF so the military did fit series seats into early vehicles for some reason. I'm swapping to proper 110 half leather seats, picking the frames up this weekend and ordering the covers very soon.

As far as I'm aware they never came with leather from the factory. It was vinyl or cloth.
Yes, you an fit aftermarket seats (Saab and other LRs), but they can compramise space for the driver and will look a little out of place in a series.
The delux seats are actually ok. £90 for the base and bask from Paddocks or similar. Just fit them into the existing frames. Doesn't take long once you have un-seized the bolts!

I bought a Series 3 County last year. Was low mileage but had not been used for a few years. I spent a bit of money having some welding done to the top of the front cross member.
Also I converted it to electronic condition.
The later S3s had brake servos and the SWBs, bigger drums. I contemplated converting to duscs using the Zeus conversion, but the standard system is so good I didn't bother. Having said that it had new hoses, cylinders and shoes fitted by the previous owner.
Cheap to buy parts for (whole exhaust system is £42) and easy to work.
Great fun to drive and a real workout too - saves me getting a gym membership
