Afternoon
Hoping for a bit of technical advice.
Car (2010 d4 110k) is slow to engage drive especially when on an uphill gradient. Seems to take 3 or 4 seconds to engage. Any ideas what it may be? It's still under warranty for a few months so don't want to get fobbed off until warranty has expired!
Cheers

You checked underneath for any leaks?

Sounds like the transmission fluid is low.

Auto or manual? If auto then first step is get the gearbox oil changed. However there is a known issue with the ZF 6HP auto box and you should get it checked for fault codes at an LR dealer or specialist. If there are lots of "incorrect ratio" messages then LR's solution is a new gearbox.

Noted thanks
I've not noticed any fluid leaks but did wonder given gradient issue.
Will get it plugged in to check for faults. new gearbox wouldn't be the worst outcome (provided warranty paying!)

I had a furore sometime back on a failed box.
They are sealed for life G/Box's so you know. LR would swap out and IIRC it was a circa £2,500 job.
A third party may want to muck aroundwith taking it apart.
Strangely ZF don't consider them sealed for life. IIRC if the vehicle is used for towing regularly they recommend changing the the oil every 50k miles.

From the age I'm guessing that's the 6spd gearbox?

Either way, it sounds like it may well benefit from from an oil change and then trouble shoot further from there.

Oil change sounds like a good idea, make sure you use a company that change the oil using mega flush equipment (or something similar). It looks like a dialysis machine but ensures that all the oil in the gearbox is clean vs. drain out and top up which leaves quite a bit of used oil in the box.
