Hello

Im new to this whole forum chat so bare with me please.
Purchased a 2005 discovery 3 and the key fobs pick and choose when they want to unlock and lock the car. Could it be insufficient charging as girlfriend only does short trips or could it be a simple battery change as the keys are 11 years old or is it something more expensive?

Many thanks

There's a bloke on disco3.com who's just started to advertise a refurbishment service - new case and battery - for not very much. Good rep so far.

My brother had this problem on his Disco 3. Eventually we discovered a wet carpet on the nearside front, then deep water in channel just inside the kick plate that carries all of the wiring front to back. In there is a crimped joint for three wires which had corroded and split apart as a result of the moisture. It took a lot of finding but once the three wires had been soldered back together, it was absolutely fine. Let me know if you need more details.

The wire joiner is beside the middle of the passenger seat. Three wires enter the sleeve from the front end and nothing goes out of the other side. It's right in the middle of the loom and takes a bit of finding.
