Discovery 4 - 6 speed box / 11 plate... issue

My brother in law has just bought a Disco 4 - 11 plate; the older box I believe... lovely thing; very well looked after. Anyway; we've experienced a couple of times; when pulling away from a junction, the box feels like it disengages for a moment and you have to take your foot off the gas and reapply; it's as though it then engages.

Doesn't happen often and seems to be on slow getaways from a standstill. Perhaps 1st gear works and then it's 2nd that feels wrong and disengages.

Any ideas!!!?

Are you/he catching the brake pedal when you go onto the accelerator? If you do, it will pull the power right back and feel like you have almost no drive for a short time

Or have you got it in 'Grass, Gravel & Snow' mode??
