MY16 Range Rover - any better?
Discussion
Hi, I currently have a MY14 L405 4.4SDV8 Vogue SE. Great car, love it but had it a little while now and fancy an update. Looking at a 2016 L405 4.4SDV8 Autobiography model with in control apps - specifically for spotify.
Are the in control apps any good? Is the MY16 car a big update over the original MY13/14 cars?

Well after coming close to spending a wedge on the upgrade I find out the MY16 doesn't have Spotify app! Only MY17. How useful.
My MY16 RRS has the Spotify App listed in the Land Rover In Control Apps App. I don't use spotify so I've never tried to use it, but I assumed if it's listed then it would work if I didsealtt said:
OK thanks for that info, even more confusing. First the dealer told me it did, then said it didn't, but if you've got it, it would make sense that the L405 MY16 does too.
I'll just wait for a nice 5.0SC car to become available, not really worth changing just for in car stereo.
I've just downloaded Spotify and it certainly now shows in the Land Rover app for me to select & use...I'll just wait for a nice 5.0SC car to become available, not really worth changing just for in car stereo.
... so when I get home from work tonight I'll plug my iPhone into my RRS tonight to see if I can actually use it.
I'll let you know. Off the top of my head it may be the RRS MY16 is different to the FFRR MY16.

Will work out nearer delivery time as to what LR/RR Apps i need to get my hands on

I only use Spotify in my M5 so am hoping it too works seamlessly in the RR.

Going to try and get an approved used one if I can, hard to find the colour & options I want though as there aren't that many of them in the LR network.
Agree. Plus the ones i have seen are very close to list price, so with some discount (theres around £10k off a SDV8 not sure about the SC though.)nothing in it so might as well go new.sealtt a quick look shows broadspeed with £7k off!

Yes seems to look that way, may as well go brand new given the lack of deals and lack of spec on approved used 5.0SC. That being the case I'm going to wait for a proper facelift on the L405 and keep my trusty SDV8 RR until then. Are you looking for one yourself? Didn't know they were discounting new cars now, is that on new orders or existing stock you saw that on? The 2016 SDV8 I went to look at was 90k which looks a bit steep if discounts are given on new cars.
Update for you. Just tried it and Spotify certainly works on my MY16 RRS.
I plugged my iPhone into the USB port that supports the Land Rover apps app. The screen changed on my phone to a Land Rover app 'connected' screen/icon and the screen in the RRS changed to the 4 icons in my screenshot above. I was then able to select Spotify on my RRS screen and I had all the same menus and options to play etc.

Is this one the standard satnav or do you need an optional extra to play spotify?I plugged my iPhone into the USB port that supports the Land Rover apps app. The screen changed on my phone to a Land Rover app 'connected' screen/icon and the screen in the RRS changed to the 4 icons in my screenshot above. All I did was...1. Download this app...
Land Rover InControl Apps by Land Rover
https://appsto.re/gb/Gh39X.i
2. Make sure you have the Spotify app on your phone.
3. Open the Land Rover app and it'll automatically add Spotify to the list of apps to use
4. Start Bluetooth and Plug your iPhone into the USB port closest to the driver, it has the LR app connect logo above it
5. From now on when connected to that USB your Range should automatically go into Land Rover app mode which will allow you to select Spotify on the main screen.

Like you i,m waiting for a face lift car. That quote was a new order through broadspeed, there are others like carwow that have some good deals too. I do believe that you can get a new SDV8 Autobiography for £90k, in fact there has been some on www.fullfatrr.com that have bought with great deals.I,m undecided between the SDV8 or the SC, why are you going SC this time? Thx.

I've run a few scenarios through Carwow & have yet to see a FFRR SDV8 AB for anywhere near £90k. Best discount i've seen was circa £8.8k & i did have a few options selected such as the 22" wheels & Signature Audio, but this was still well North of £100k. Options stripped out i reckon it would have been around £96k.I,m undecided between the SDV8 or the SC, why are you going SC this time? Thx.
On new orders as you say discounts are around £7-8k perhaps more if you try hard. The ones i have heard about are in stock cars or available cars that have been sold for £90k. Good news if one of these is you exact spec.
Plus new 17 mdl has the upgraded Nav , so there are some good deals on the 16year model around now with dealers matching for sure these web deals. If wanting to but right now a good site to try is Autobid.

Phew, thought i was going mad. Makes sense that deals are to be had on the outgoing MY16 cars that dealers have in stock. Personally i'd defo want the upgraded Nav/Display so new new it has to be.Plus new 17 mdl has the upgraded Nav , so there are some good deals on the 16year model around now with dealers matching for sure these web deals. Paul, also imo the SDV8AB comes as standard with the diamond cut 21"101 wheels and the 22"707s are £2080 so why not take the car with these and then buy another set of wheels?. this are easy to find new at around 2,2.5k complete with tyres this way you have two sets of wheels and tyres for the option price LR charge you.
