Defender headlamp improvement
Discussion
I've spent quite a bit of time in rural Staffordshire recently commuting in the dark and found that the headlamps on my 1996 Defender were very poor.
I didn't want to mess around fitting spot lamps to it so I bought a pair of 150% brighter Philips bulbs and am very impressed, the light intensity is a massive improvement over the standard bulbs. Dipped beam is now acceptable for driving around whereas before I relied on main beam wherever possible.
The Defender's headlamps are now so good that when I recently used the Bowler after dark I got the impression that I was driving around on sidelamps, this was compounded by the Bowler having a 12" LED light bar wired with main beam - the resulting drop in light when switching back to dipped beam was like I'd switched the headlamps off :-(
Time to buy another pair of these bulbs for the Bowler!

If you now add Crystal Lamps you'll be completely set.
Something like these although there are plenty of options.
