A short while ago I bought myself a new toy in the shape of a Defender 90 Pick Up.
It came with a decent Ifor Williams canopy attached. However I considering replacing that with a canvas hood. Mainly because I find them more aesthetically pleasing. Also it will be cooler for the dog in the back too.
As I have no experience of hoods I was wondering what were the pros and cons.
The car it parked outside, so constantly exposed to the weather.

Pros:

Looks good.
Breathes, so no micro-climate inside.
Easily removed.
Different configurations with rear and sides up or complete removal.
Reasonably cheap to repair or replace.
Easily stowed when removed.

Cons:
Lack of security.

I like canvas tops.

Go for full tilt. Great in hot sunny weather, even better with series doors. Take the door tops off and fold the windscreen down. Ware sunglasses for obvious reasons.

A rag top is also far lighter than the solid options.

Are you meaning keep the pick and just a canvas rear cover, or replace the truck cab with a full tilt canvas?

I Think I'll keep the truck cab as is. It's dry and nice and cosy in the winter.
