RRS HSE Lux pack vs. D4 HSE Lux
Discussion
Both 2012/2013 <50,000 miles. They're comparably priced, maybe the D4 is slightly more expensive. Would fit 19s and AT tyres on the RRS to improve the ride. Use would be as a daily driver and mostly road, some muddy fields and some snow (Peak District). Leaning towards the slightly more luxurious interior of the RRS, but not driven either. Current owner of a very nice 96,000 mile D3 (new compressor last week
).
Given the off-road ability of both, firstly I'd like ride quality then interior luxury.
Can anyone offer any opinions on the subject? Thanks... .

My Dad has the RRS and I have the D4 HSE Lux. Personally I think the old RRS is starting to look terribly dated now and for that reason alone I wouldn't have one. The D4 (and D3) are iconic, not quite like a Defender, but enough that the boxy shape still looks good.
When we've borrowed the RRS we always find it too small in the boot - but I'm sure you knew already that the Disco trounces it on the practicality front! The RRS really doesn't have much more space than a small estate car.
Driving wise the Disco is noticeably more comfortable and compliant over bumps, even though both have 20" wheels. The RRS is noticeably sharper in handling, though, and the steering feels a little more accurate (still has bugger all feel!). The RRS engine sounds better though, although I could just be imagining it!
The rear of the Disco is a much nicer place to sit and I find the rear of the RRS poor - cramped, mainly. The front of the RRS is perhaps a tad more comfortable, certainly the head rests are softer! 😄
Both are nice cars but the Disco takes it for me.

Thanks for your reply. I think I agree that the Disco wins that one. What about Disco 4 HSE vs. RR VSE 4.4 (let's say both are 2012 MY, for arguments sake)? I'm imagining the Disco would still be more practical, but the RR might be ahead on comfort and gadgets and whilst just as practical boot-wise might lose points because of its sheer size.
