Hello everyone,

Considering to get one of these through Land Rover dealers. (Approved used).

Are they reliable? Coming from totally fun but super unreliable porsche, a bit worried. My dad also used to have Freelander and Discovery, but loads of issues in the past. We had Merc AMG and several Jeeps so really looking forward to get back into modern SUV but reliability is a bit concern now :/

Evoque looks pretty compact.

Thanks.

I had one for a couple of years, no issues other than a couple of minor warranty items (rattle and something else minor).

They are way more compact than you think. Front seat cabin space isn't too bad, very comfortable, rear seat space starts to squeeze, the boot is small and because of the angle of the roof line, the opening is small. This was the one reason we sold it - impractical if you need to transport anything of any size - bought a Discovery instead - different gravy smile

We had one from new for 13 months never had a problem bar a bit of external trim. Sold it in the end due to the woeful boot space, then we went to the ridiculous a Discovery 4. Now that's another story.

The wife's got a 64 reg Evoque, it's been back to the dealers several times to fix minor issues. The latest one was that the radio didn't work, after 3 trips they have finally fixed it. It's had other problems such as heated seats not working and infotainment screen crashing. All electrical issues and the local dealer has been poor in trying to fix them. It will be the last Land Rover that we buy.

Not personal, but a close friend has one from new and it's spent more time being fixed than on the road. Multitude of issues from fairly major gearbox problems, rattling exhaust, mirrors doing their own thing etc etc. He's literally just got it back (friday) and saturday they've called back to send it in due a whole host of other faults that have arisen. To say he's pissed off is an understatement.

He is really not a fussy person either. They had a Kia Sportage before for about 5 years or so and that was absolutely faultless - the fact they're considering going back to a kia from the Evoque is actually an incredible thought.

Everyone will have different views but we have been disappointed with ours.

It's been back to the dealers far too often for a so-called premium marque. Electrical niggles - steering wheel audio controls needed replacing, door locks and electric windows failed, rattling from trim in roof console. The rear diff needed replacing at 25k miles - fortunately under warranty. Most recent was a failed reverse camera - out of warrant but I'm hoping LR will contribute.

Dealer has been dreadful - so much so that LR had to get involved and we got a free future service because of the issues we had with them.

Ours is an early diesel with the older gearbox and now has 70k miles. We've neve got more than 34mpg. It is, with the right trim, a beautiful place to sit in but I highly doubt we'll be sticking with LR for our next car. It's the most expensive car we've bought and the most disappointing

Only positive comments here. Have a 61 plate 3 door si4. The original owner loaded it with every electronic gadget and extra going, and i was a bit worried about that having heard a few worrying things about reliability. But it has been very solid. I still think the design looks fresh, it's plenty fast enough, enjoyable to drive. Only negative is the fuel economy.

Work colleague has had once since they first came out. Couple of minor niggles fixed at services, but otherwise also a reliable motor.

My GF got one of the very first ones available. It was back to the garage over an 18 month period over 10 times with a brake issue which could not be resolved. Even left the car with the salesman to use for a weekend so they could see the issue.

Eventually they ordered a new car and it was a trim level up as the trim levels had changed. The new one has been totally fine apart from the glasses holder which does not close flush.

I think that’s the risk with being an early adopter of a new model and I normally buy a car as its later in the lifecycle.

Thank you all, great info so far.

I had a test drive a few days ago. (Manual, 2017 model). 30 minutes drive in east London, fantastic car imho! Great seating position, compact enough and the interior looks quite well made comparing to other cars I drove so far. I'm pretty unusual to SUVS except having driven family's cars in the past but really enjoyed the 6 speed manual, it did look pretty engaging. Time to check piggy-bank hehe

Latest fault: drivers door lock mechanism failure, the car now won't lock as the drivers door contains the central locking controller. The car really is a piece of st!
