2009 L322 5.0 s/c; Snapped Crank, what now?
Discussion
Garage tell me that the crankshaft has snapped.
They tell me that its not possible to buy a crankshaft, have to buy short engine from LR for £11.5k
Had a quick look on ebay: £7.5K but anyone had any experience of a good/bad suppliers?
Ideally would like my own garage to repair/refit so I have a little confidence in end result, rather than buying an unknown engine.
Any advice/recommendations/warnings etc gratefully received.
I'm in Poole on the South Coast

Have you actually asked at a jag or Land Rover dealer?
Failing that phone up a performance jag tuner to see if they have any to sell.
Wish I could just wrap one up for you as I’m in the factory that builds those engines. I think security wouldn’t be too pleased though mooching our the gate with a crank or two

Not sure if these are 4.2 or 5.0 cranks as they have sat there for ages.
Was thinking, if the crank has snapped, the end not attached to the timing side will probably walloped the valves.
Your best bet is get the engine out and see what the total damage is before just buying a replacement crank. There will be more damage that’s for sure
